The DLC is an innovative coating carbon-based with a wide range of application, that can deal with problems related to abrasion, sliding and chemical corrosion.
The low deposition temperature, its hardness and its low coefficient of friction makes it extremely interesting.
DLC is applied to already finished parts while maintaining the superficial finish.
The DLC is deposited by PA-CVD technology (Plasma-Assisted Chemical Vapor Deposition) that helps maintaining low the storage temperature and at the same time ensures good adhesion.
The high hardness comes from the simultaneous presence of sp2 hybridized carbon (graphite) and sp3 (diamond).
Benefits
- High Hardness (resistance to abrasion and wear).
- Low friction Coefficient (smoothness and anti-adhesive).
- Excellent for contacts in absence of lubricant.
- Excellent chemical inertia (resistance to corrosion and chemical attack of acids, bases and salts).
- Compact (impermeable to gases, like Hydrogen).
- Electrical insulation.
- Biocompatible.
Fields of application:
- Automotive and Racing (gears, rocker arms, valves, fuel distribution systems)
- Medical (prosthesis, screws for implants, ISO 10993)
- Food (FDA approved)
- Textiles
- Aerospace
- Military
- Pumps and compressors.
- Tools (drills and cutters for the machining of Al)
- Moulds and dies
Substrates
- Steels, ferrous alloys in general
- Aluminum and its alloys
- Titanium and its alloys
- Copper and its alloys (bronze, Cu-Be)
- Tungsten carbide.
